Is Breast enhancement surgery suitable for
you?
Surgical breast implants or Augmentation mammaplasty is probably
the fastest way there is to enhance your breast size. However,
numerous factors including pregnancy, breastfeeding, any family
history of breast disease or breast cancer, any previous breast
surgeries, your breast's size, symmetry, volume, shape,
inframammary fold as well as nipple position all has varying degree
of impact on achieving your desired results.
Are you seeking for perfection?
Breast augmentation is for women who are seeking for improvement.
It can certainly help to enhance how you look and feel, making you
feel more confident about yourself and boost your self esteem. But
it may not help you to achieve the perfect breast. Getting prepared
mentally for what to expect is in itself an important step in
achieving the success you want.
The augmentation mammaplasty process
Surgery can be performed on an outpatient basis or inpatient in a
hospital. In most cases, operation is performed in a freestanding
day surgery center or hospital outpatient facility. It usually last
from one to several hours depending on implant choice, incision
site, implant placement etc. Anesthesia can be local ( only the
breast area is numbed ) or general ( sleep through the entire
operation ).
What to expect after surgery You can expect
some form of pain, swelling, bruising and tenderness. It may last
for a month or longer, but should disappear with time. Some women
may experience bleeding, some may experience fever, warmth
sensation, redness of the breast or other symptoms of infection. It
is important you report these symptoms to your doctor so necessary
steps can be taken.
In most cases, you should be able to return to work within a few
days although strenuous activities should be avoided for at least a
couple of weeks. Your breast will probably be sensitive to direct
contact for a couple of weeks.
Scarring is a natural outcome of surgery. It will be pink for at
least six weeks and may even appear to widen but it should start
to fade after several months but they will never disappear
entirely. The darker your skin, the more prominent the scars are
likely to be.
Your doctor may recommend a post-operative bra, compression
bandage or jog bra for additional support while you heal. Breast
massage exercises will also aid in the recuperative process
The decision to have breast augmentation is a very personal one.
It is usually recommended that a woman's breast is fully
developed before she undergoes breast implants. Saline and silicone
implants are FDA ( Food and Drug Administration ) approved for
augmentation in women age 18 and 22 respectively. However it may be
recommended at a younger age if use for reconstruction
purposed.
